Lesson Description

Inspired by the wings and sail design of the America’s Cup race boats students will gain an understanding of the gas particle model, exploring how gas particles behave and interact in various environments. They will examine fluid dynamics, focusing on how gas particles travel over curved surfaces, such as sails. The resource also traces the evolution of sail shapes over time, analysing how designs have adapted to maximize efficiency and speed. Finally, students will apply sail and lift theory to design their own sails, utilizing principles of aerodynamics and physics to influence movement and performance.
