The Challenge with Identity
Learning Objectives
Teaching about identity is a crucial aspect of fostering Key Stage 3 and 4 students’ personal development and understanding of the world around them. Adolescence is a time of self-discovery, and exploring one’s identity is an integral part of this journey. We have produced a well-rounded set of PSHE resources, with the help of Jordan Stephens (of Rizzle Kicks), addressing various aspects of identity. Students can gain valuable insights into effective communication, developing their own identity and not comparing themselves to others.

What is identity?
At this stage, teaching about identity refers to the concept of self-identity, which encompasses personal characteristics, values, beliefs, and interests. Encouraging Key Stage 3 and 4 students to reflect on their own identities allows them to develop a deeper sense of self-awareness.
Teaching about identity should also encompass cultural identity, and personal and social dimensions.
Lesson Description
Developed in partnership with INEOS – as a part of the ‘Go Humans Academy’ – we have created four short films that see Jordan Stephens, share personal insights to positive mental health with a focus on identity. He challenges students to take a deeper look at their own experiences and reactions while offering ideas to equip young people with the tools to handle what life throws their way.
How to use our identity resources
Teaching about identity in key stage 3 and 4 is an essential component of a well-rounded education. Each short film comes with suggested discussion points and activities to use as a springboard into deeper discussion. Play the videos on their own in tutor time, and focus on the big questions on the cover page of the teacher notes, or use all four videos and accompanying lesson plans as part of the planned curriculum for PSHE.

The Power of Movement
Phase III of the INEOS Go Humans Academy ushers in a dynamic blend of athleticism and artistry, focusing on the raw energy of the New Zealand All Blacks and the kinetic power of dance led by renowned choreographer Sherrie Silver.
This series, titled “The Power of Movement” is designed to demonstrate how intentional movement can bridge the gap between mental resilience and optimised performance. Throughout this engaging five-minute masterclass series, participants will discover how to transform challenges into victories, merging the rigour of sport with the rhythm of dance to supercharge mental and physical wellbeing. Above all, this is an opportunity to hear from athletes at the top of their game and to gain some insight into what it takes to be the best.
